The mango tree originally comes from India. Its fruit was introduced to Reunion Island in 1770 from Goa.The Cogshall variety was introduced in Reunion Island about 20 years ago. Its type is fibreless, soft and juicy, with a yellow color and sweet flavor. At maturity, it has a yellow background color with significant crimson blush covering the skin.
Fibers, vitamins A, B and C as well as potassium and iron are present in important quantities in this fruit. Mangoes are also a significant source of beta carotene
