Peaches are native to Northwest China in that region located just next to the northern slopes of Himalaya. It was further introduced into Persia (current Iran) before being widespread in Europe. Peaches with white flesh typically are very sweet with little acidity. Flat white peaches are flatter and sweeter than regular peaches. Their skin is yellow/red and a lot less fuzzy compared with ordinary peaches. Maybe more complex-tasting and flavorful than their sibblings, they are said to have undertones of almond. Apricot, also called ''Armenian apple'' has disputed origins between Armenia, China, India and sometimes even Japan. Introduced in Greece by Alexander the Great, it soon spread into Western Europe where it has been grown since then. Slightly over 50% of apricots are produced in the Mediterranean area. The Mikado variety is round flat with a red blush on light orange background.
Peaches are source of thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B-6, niacin, folate, and pantothenic acid, all valuable nutrients when it comes to health of cells and nerves. Another important benefit associated with peaches is dietary fiber which is famous for easing digestion. Apricots contain various phytochemicals, such as provitamin A beta-carotene and various polyphenols. Rich in fibers, apricots are beneficial for digestive transit and contribute to colon cancer and heart disease prevention.
