Native of South Dauphiné valleys in France, Grenoble walnut was the first type of fruit to receive in 1938 the French AOC certification (‘’Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée’’ or Protected Designation of Origin – PDO in English) . It was certified for its great quality directly related to the environment it grows on: the dauphinois ‘’terroir’’. Only 3 varieties of walnuts are authorized for the production of AOC Grenoble Walnut: Franquette, Mayette and Parisienne.
AOC Grenoble walnut contains many trace-elements like zinc, copper, iron and potassium supporting our immune, muscular and nervous systems. It is also rich in arginine and omega-3 fatty acids improving cardiovascular health. Nutritionists often mention that eating up to 5-8 walnuts daily is good for health.
