Golden Nugget is a seedless, sweet tangerine named after its bright orange, slightly bumpy rind. This hybrid is a cross between two noncommercial tangerine varieties: the Wilking and Kincy, by the University of California at Riverside.These medium-sized, seedless mandarins flourish mid to late season (February through April) and have a sweet flavor and pleasant aroma.
Opal apples are medium to large, round fruit. They have a yellow skin and slight russeting at the stem. This apple has a soft yet crisp, cream-colored flesh with a sweet taste and a slightly tart finish. The taste has been compared to the Honey Crisp, with hints of pear, coconut, and banana. Opal apples do not oxidize when exposed to the air; thus, they do not brown and make excellent additions to salads. Their crisp texture holds up well in pies and tarts and is a nice addition to cakes but is best used as a fresh eating apple. Mandarin is rich in vitamin C and A. Like other mandarins, they are a good source of dietary fibres and potassium. Satsuma Mandarins are an important source of antioxidants such as naringenin, naringin and pectin.
